Salivary hormone testing procedure

The women's salivary hormone test kit measures the following five hormones: Estradiol, Progesterone, DHEA, and morning and bedtime Cortisol. The men's test kit measures Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in place of Progesterone. Your kit will contain two test tubes which you will need to fill approximately 3/4 full with saliva. The first tube is to be filled shortly after waking and then placed in the refigerator. The second is to be filled at bedtime. Your samples should be submitted before any food or drink are consumed. Do not brush your teeth but do rinse your mouth thoroughly for about one minute prior to sampling. Fill out all personal information on the requisition form and be sure to write your name in marker on each tube.  Place the completed form along with your plastic-sealed saliva tube in the original box. Your test kit is pre-paid so no payment is required of you. Your only additional cost is postage for shipment to the lab using the shipping envelope provided. PLEASE NOTE that for optimal results it is requested that you refrain from all hormone use for a minimum of three days prior to submitting your saliva samples.  If this poses a problem please notify us prior to completing your test. We ask our patients to test twice yearly for optimal program maintenance.
